I use peanut butter on a daily basis. In particular, it is a staple in my smoothie recipe that I drink everyday. I also find that many store bought peanut butters add sugar, although stores are definitely getting better at this.
This recipe is super simple, just peanuts and some oil of your choosing. You can also add some other items if you want to tailor the taste to your palate. Finally, the recipe will be similar with any nut you decide on, the amount of oil may vary.

Ingredients: Peanuts and Oil. I used peanuts that were lightly salted and roasted. For the oil I used olive oil.
Simply pour the peanuts into the blender. I filled my blender about 3/4 of the way full. I added a teaspoon of oil to start and then started the blender. I slowly increased the speed and made sure I was pushing the peanuts down and off the side. As I blended I added oil to reach the consistency I was looking for. Total time blending was about 5 minutes.
