When we talk about recovery we often just gloss over sleep as a key ingredient to recovery. Sleep is the cornerstone of a good recovery and consistent, long duration sleep can drastically help you recover.
Sleep isn’t glamorous and it can be hard to get in this day and age when we all have smartphones, Netflix and/or kids, but it should not be overlooked. It seems like getting too much sleep can be viewed as being lazy but that should not be the case. I argue that getting adequate sleep takes discipline. It means not binge watching the latest and greatest show on Amazon Prime or having a drink but instead going to bed a bit earlier.
It can take time for your body to get used to sleeping for 8+ hours but in the end it will pay dividends. A fully refreshed mind/body will work much better than a mind/body that is working at 80%.
